West Blocton completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region three, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. West Blocton's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Vigor by a score of 40-0. Since 2010, West Blocton has gone a combined 64-67. Their 48.9% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, West Blocton has managed to compile a record of 111-153. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 4A and 271st in the AHSAA. The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach DreMail King as they enter the 2022 season. Coach King was the head football coach at Greensboro last season. Coach King's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 8-13 (38.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach King's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The West Blocton Tigers will play in Class 4A region three during the 2022 season. The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2013 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2022. The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Shelby County on Friday, August 19 at Wildcats Stadium. Last year the Shelby County Wildcats finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in second place in Class 5A region three. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Faith Academy by a score of 42-14. West Blocton and Shelby County have met a total of 21 times on the football field.
